Ahmed Hayman is one of my all time favorite photographers and it was a pleasant surprise to one recent photo by him in this exhibition.
Some of the most prominent principles of art in his photo were contrast between the silhouettes of the man and the place and the light coming in from the destroyed windows, and emphasis through he silhouette of the man and the bright area around him. Movement is also invoked in the photo.
As for the elements of art I can clearly see space, color, texture, and form. Space (negative and positive) between the different objects and the man, texture and color are prominent as well through the light of the sun falling on the different pillars showing both color of the pillars and their rough texture.
The photograph managed to capture the aftermath of a crime. The day after. The colors, composition, etc. all work together in conveying the sense of gloominess, destruction, etc. I like how this photograph managed to deliver the atmosphere in which it was taken.
